In 2015 I completed my sixth year of teaching at
Stoney Creek High School. Shortly after I graduated from
Western Michigan University in December of 2008 I found
a five week long term substitute job at Stoney Creek
teaching three different math classes. I instantly fell in love
with the culture that the staff and students have created
there! I worked as a math teacher for the district's summer
learning program and soon landed my own classroom at
Stoney. I have taught a variety of courses with at least one
new course every year. The math department strongly
believes in collaboration so we often meet to share
strategies and problem solve together. It is a great learning
enviornment for me as well as the students!

I have also had the pleasure of being the assistant
cross country coach at Stoney since 2010. We coach the boys and girls teams together so we have 100 - 120 runners on the team each year. I enjoy getting to know my students on a different level and watching them achieve their goals. The kids definitely keep me in shape! During the season we take about 80 athletes on a camping trip on Lake Michigan which is always a highlight!

I got married in 2014 to a college friend's identical twin! We met at his brother's CrossFit gym. We definitely enjoy being active together by running, biking, swimming, and doing CrossFit. We have done a few races together such as the Warrior Dash and the Tough Mudder. Although I'm not nearly as fast as my students, I have completed three half marathons and a triathalon in addition to 5K and 10K races. My life long goal...to keep moving!
